Otley in Bloom has organised the following events as part of its bid to win the coveted crown. Later events will feature in the July edition of Suburban Magazine.
Open Gardens on Sunday June 25. Celebrate the joy of gardening by visiting seven handpicked private gardens in Otley to get inspiration, or simply soak up the atmosphere of being in a beautiful space. Cream teas will be available in two of the gardens. Tickets are now on sale at Courtyard Planters, 9 Westgate, Otley, LS21 3AT. Tel 01943 462390 or online at www.shopappy.com. Tickets are also available to purchase on the day at Newlands, 131a Bradford Road or Park House, Wharfemeadows Park, Farnley Lane. Tickets cost £3 per person or £5 for a family ticket. Money raised will be split between Friends of Otley Lido and Otley in Bloom.
Otley Walking Festival on Thursday, June 29. “Walk in the Judges Footsteps” guided walk of Otley’s garden offering. The gentle four-mile walk starts at 7pm at the Buttercross in Otley. Katie Burnett, Chair of Otley in Bloom said: “Our aim is to get the whole community involved, whether beginner gardeners or seasoned experts. Adding a few plants to a front garden, planting a container or picking up litter can make a big difference to making Otley a greener and more pleasant place to live that will also benefit visitors to the town.
